The BBS at the End of the Universe 1-201-884-2795 FIDO 1:2606/513
USR Dual Standard 1200/2400/9600 v32bis/v42bis
Support also available through FIDO's TAG Door Echo.
Special thanks to Rob and Vic for the TAG structure.
v1.6 - 2/4/92 - Happy Chinese New Year!
-------------
o This version using the new NAMES.TXT will allow you to search via real name
and also on locked out and deleted users. (instead of using TAG's general
text search) Be sure to replace your NAMES.EXE for the new format.
o NEW: DISP # # to get 2 users in split screen. This is to compare infos
when you find duplicate accounts in another TAG program I wrote called
MATCH (highly recommended). (ex. DISP 2 5 compares user #2 and user #5)
o Searching for ~ is for locked out user, ` is for deleted user.
o Run DISP without any parameter to get usage help.
o Fixed word variables using integer to display.
o I eliminated the read from NAMES.LST all together so you must use NAMES.TXT
to look up via partial names.
v1.5 - 1/31/92 (You got the need for SPEED?)
--------------
o Gender fix (I wasn't aware this was changed to a new field)
o Added Names.exe to create Names.txt which is an ASCII output of NAMES.LST.
If this file exists in DISP's directory, DISP will use it to search for
the name you want instead of using NAMES.LST. Using NAMES.TXT is a LOT
faster (almost instantly) with my 670+ user database. The draw back of
using NAMES.TXT is that you can not search new users logged today w/o
having the list re-created.
o Names.exe can be run in the directory of USER.LST or anywhere else if you
have PY enviornment set up. You should have it run as part of daily event.
Names.exe C:\work\ will save NAMES.TXT in C:\WORK\ directory.
o Sorry for the version confusion (v1.4 with zipname as 1.3)
v1.4 - 1/7/92
-------------
o Updated for 2.6! I put in about 3 hours, some little enhancements.
TAG 2.6 forgot about the no post/call ratio SL in Status.dat.. it did for
file ratio.
v1.2 - 10/24/90
---------------
o 2nd parameter will allow you to search also. If you know the guy is Joe
something, you can enter DISP JOE MOE. This is so you don't have to go
through a large number of matches. However you must enter the first name
or handle in full for exact match.
o Noticed a little thing - if the user has forward mail the scan would get
the account number of the forwarded person and would get a not found if
you searched by the name of the mailbox that is not available. This is the
way name.lst is recorded.
o Desqview/Taskview aware. It would direct to the virtual screen buffer.
v1.1 - 9/19/90
--------------
Search time cut by half when partial name search is used.
DISPLAY USER for TAG 2.6
-------------------------
This is a clone of ShowUser or TAG's UEDIT Extended form. The differences are:
o DISP is in 2.6 form. ShowUser is in 2.5e or older.
o DISP only displays extended form. I never needed the short or normal form
in ShowUser and it was just a waste of a few keystrokes.
o DISP doesn't use a seperate .CFG, it reads PY enviornment (SET PY= to your
USER.LST directory with a backslash) and you would need to run it in
the directory STATUS.DAT is in.
o DISP uses TAG's green color and only green on those with significant
informations. The rest is in regular white color. Thus you can
pick out the info you want easier and quicker.
Also it doesn't leave DOS with a yellow color like ShowUser.
o DISP has PW/call date/birthday working, thus a full status is available.
o DISP has an extra AGE: under the birthdate so you don't have to subtract
the current year with their birth year.
o DISP gives you an option to quit in name matching, and lists all the ID
numbers in case your fast finger hit the key and past the the User
you want.
o DISP is smaller and faster.
USAGE
-----
DISP # - reads the account # of User.lst - fastest way
DISP name - do a search of matching string on handle or real name
(case insensitive)

If you like this program, or any of the TAG util I have written, all you
need is to send $15 for registration. It comes out to be less than 50 cents
per program and your sponsorship will keep these utils going.
Custom design util that can also be used by other sysops will be considered.
Requests can be left on TAG echo or netmail to 1:2606/513 Peter Yao.
